"Hi my name is Ken Newbitt," and I have a passion for wood carving.
I would like to offer a special invitation to you all, to explore my world of Bird Carving from timbers, and as you delve deeper into my website, my love of birds, and the passion to learn the art of wildfowl carving.
As one of the fastest growing and collect-able art forms in the world ( America,Canada,United Kingdom and the Eastern world ) but a little less known in New Zealand, decorative bird carving has earned its place among the most admired and now also respected of the art world.
The diversity in size, shape and colour of the world's birds is amazing and New Zealand has some very outstanding and variable species which over- sea carvers do not get to see, unless its through photo's e.t.c and the challenge to carve our NZ birds has really extended my skills to replicate nature at its best.
The mesmerizing effect on humans is unmatched to other sculptures that I have carved, and can now say there are a lot of clients out there that now own one or more of my works.
I have a saying on my studio wall " I'm nowhere near the end of where I plan to be" that is a Master carver of Birds.

The above heading is a recent visit to " NZ Bird of Prey Trust " ( set up in my home town ) the right hand photos is a real Kahu or swamp harrier, called Tommy and the left side is my recent project of a Red Tail Hawk project( Full Size ) which has been a real fun to attempt.
